Enduro? KTM 1290 Super Duke R Dirt Bike

When it comes to inappropriate dirt bikes, we’re your guys. So, it shouldn’t surprise you then to read that we’reall about this KTM 1290 Super Duke R that’s set to compete in the 2016 Erzbergrodeo. After all, what’s not to like in a 180hp off-roader?  ๐Ÿ #๐Ÿ OmahaBikeNight
I’m not going to lie, I have a school boy’s crush on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R, after finally getting a chance to swing a leg over one; and there’s something that tickles me about the idea of using a square peg to fill a round hole, when it comes to motorcycles.
That all being said, Jiล™รญ Heinรญk’s latest creation, the “KTM 1290 Super Enduro” tickles us just in the right way…he’s clearly our sort of crazy.
Heinรญk’s 1290 Super Enduro is a cross between the KTM 1290 Super Duke R and the KTM 1290 Super Adventure, and it packs 180hp into its 180kg frame.
Helping take the 1290 off-road are knobby tires that have been fitted to tubeless Kineo wheels, while the longer suspension travel from the Super Adventure helps make room for the larger wheelset.
We would imagine that Heinรญk will want a little bit more armor on the machine, before tackling Erzberg with it, but it certainly looks like a loony good time in the dirt. Here’s to thinking outside of the box.
If you speak German, you can head over to Motorrad and get the full low-down. Or if you are like us, you can fire up Google Translate and ponder how “schadenfreude” ever became a word.
